According to the classical rules of landscape image construction, the sky occupies 3/5 of the height that lies above the real or imagined horizon. In photography, this creates large differences in light between the sky and the rest of the image. Cokin's continuous filters reduce these differences and bring a balance of light intensity between the bottom and top of the image. This puts an end to blurry skies and underlit landscapes. Since sky and clouds are unpredictable and unstable, Cokin's waveform filters offer their own colour interpretations to mimic colour effects. They no longer play a secondary role but become the main partner in a dialogue with the landscape. The Cokin continuous filters are height adjustable. The coloured part takes up less than half of the filter. They include a gradual transition to the point where the fitter is transparent. You have to check these parts in the viewfinder. Tug the filter at the boundary between the landscape and the sky so that the filter color does not touch the landscape. Set a medium aperture. With a closed aperture, the transition piece is smaller, especially with wide-angle lenses. When using a camera with autofocus, you must grasp the filter holder firmly so that it does not rotate around the lens axis when adjusting.
